The Challenges of Being a Young Queer Professional
Becoming a young professional after 2020 has been uniquely challenging. They’ve had to cope with issues like climate change, a contentious political climate, and - to top it off - a global pandemic. For those in the LGBTQIA+ community, add ongoing political attacks and legislation to reduce our most basic rights.
With all this as the backdrop to their world, young professionals are still expected to lace up those bootstraps, finish college and pursue a full time career. To say that this is challenging is an understatement. This time in life often leads to deep self-reflection. Maybe you relate to one or several of the following:
Struggling with your queer, trans, or non-binary identity.
Daydreaming about a life where you are free to be yourself - free from rigid gender roles and homophobia.
Noticing anxiety and dread when thinking about your future
Uncertainty about the next ‘right steps.’
Feeling anxious or distant in your intimate relationships.
Having no idea how to navigate life after trauma.
If any of those rang true, know that you’re not alone.
